Choosing your own activities, are what Africa overland tours are all about. This is your chance to make the trip your own and add as much sauce as you need to what’s already on your plate.

Any activity marked ‘optional’ will be to your own expense. The reason why they’re not included in the price is because it doesn’t fit everyone’s budget and not everyone wants to do them all. Some trips include the main optional tour activities in the tour price.

Overlanding leaves the running and safety of these specialised activities to the people who do them best. We merely just take you there and then leave you in the hands of the professionals!

Just bear in mind that these optional extras are operated by third party local companies and not by the tour operator. Some of the activities are adventurous with accompanying risk, so all activities undertaken by you will be at your own risk.

Payment for these optional activities takes place while on the tour.

Expert guides will fill you in on surfers’ secrets of how to paddle out, read and, catch a wave and how to control your body when you stand up, using specialised learner boards. Lessons are structured to take the absolute beginner from surfing zero to wave riding hero. We give clients a lifetime of accumulated surfing tips, technical info and practical surf wizardry to get the most out of the day. We travel to some of the most scenic beaches around the cape and offer half-day surfing to multi-day surf packages.

Shark Cage Diving

What is a typical trip?

Breakfast (included in the price) is provided at the restaurant before the boat launch. Every trip is preceded by a brief introductory talk about the route and what to look to out for. Passengers are fitted with comfortable inflatable life-jackets. Safety is of the utmost importance. We have extensive public liability insurance.

We usually launch around 9:00 am in the morning (note that launching times may vary due to tide and weather conditions), arriving at the anchoring spot in 20 to 25 minutes. The anchor is lowered, the cage goes into the water, a scent trial is made, and we settle down. Final preparations for the diving are made, and the rest of the day is spent watching, diving and enjoying the day

After spending time with the sharks, we make our way to Dyer Island - depending on the tide and sea conditions. At Dyer Island we can approach close enough to view African penguins, Cape cormorants and many other species. We also often spot giant petrels, Cape gannets, whitechinned petrels and storm petrels.

Neighbouring Dyer Island is Geyser Rock, home to 60,000 Cape Fur Seals. The stretch of water between the two islands is Shark Alley. We visit Shark Alley to view the seals. The colony is thriving and there is always lots of activity, especially around November time when the tiny pups are born.

After about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the day, we head back to land. Should you wish to return to shore earlier, a transfer can be arranged.

Tandem Skydiving

Jumping out of a aeroplane at 10 000 feet and free falling for 25 - 30 seconds at 200 km per hour will absolutely blow you away! This much adrenaline should be illegal! The sheer adrenaline rush of the free fall is combined with one of the most stunning aerial views of Cape Town, Table Mountain and Robben Island on a 4 - 5 minute parachute ride back to earth.

No experience is needed, the only criteria that must be adhered to is that jumpers must weigh under 105 kg. A personalized certificate and optional video will serve as a lasting memory of a unique experience.
