We really wanted to write this post as it is a cause close to your hearts. Every month we donate money to a variety of projects that we feel are doing some awesome work. One of these projects is worth a special mention. This is the Cape Town Child Welfare.
Last year they celebrated 100 years of amazing work. We recieved an update from them on two of their poverty alleviation programmes. Here is some information:
As part of our poverty alleviation program, we run 2 soup kitchens, one in the informal settlement of Imizamo Yethu twice per week, and one in the harbour fishing community once per week. We feed on average 180 children in Imizamo Yethu, and 50 children in the harbour. We aim to provide not only soup, but a nutritious cooked meal. For some of the children this is the only cooked meal they receive for the week.
Our budget for this project is limited, and with rising food prices, we are in ever-increasing danger of having to turn children away. It is only through the generous monthly donation of kind persons like yourselves, that we are able to sustain this project, and help to still the hunger pangs of the most vulnerable in our society.
We thank you for your generosity thus far, and trust that you will be able to continue to assist us by your kind contributions.
