Cableway for Drakensberg?

As has been announced by Michael Mabuyakhulu, MEC for Economic Development and Tourism in KwaZulu Natal, the province has plans to build a 3.300 meter long cableway at the uKhahlamba Drakensberg. This plan was revealed at the 2012 Indaba, and according to Mr. Mabuyakhulu this project would change the tourism landscape, and a detailed feasibility study which would look into the environmental, economic and social issues, as well as the costs involved with the development will be conducted soon.

One of the preferred sites is in the Mnweni Valley near the Royal Natal National Park section of the World Heritage Site. The proposed summit station would be in Lesotho. With its planned location near a World Heritage Site, it is expected to receive criticism from environmental groups.
