Etosha National Park

Etosha, meaning “place of dry water”, is located in northern Namibia and one of the country’s most famous and biggest national parks, established in 1907. The park is dominated by the desert salt pan, roughly 130km in length and 50km in places. With the pan’s hyper saline conditions, it limits the species which can permanently inhabit the pan itself. The pan is usually very dry occasionally filing with water for brief periods on the summer, attracting pelicans, flamingos, black rhino and black-faced impala.

Etosha is 22 750km² making it the biggest wildlife sanctuary in Namibia. The park offers 3 very comfortable rest camps; Okaukuejo, Halali and Namutoni each offering both chalet and camping accommodation facilities. Each also includes a flood-lit waterhole for 24 hour game viewing.

Game viewing is best during the drier months June to November, with permanent waterholes (such as the waterholes at each camp) a focus point for game!
