Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania

April 4, 2013

A volcanic caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater is the collapsed upper cone of an ancient volcano. Its high walls contain an entire microcosmic ecosystem, complete with lakes, forests, and plains, and in there live hundreds of species of wildlife. Saying that the views from the misty highlands of the rim are truly, unbelievably beautiful is an understatement. The same sentiment is shared about the abundant wildlife roaming on the crater floor.
