Luwawa Forest Lodge

Situated in the Viphya Mountains of northern Malawi, Luwawa Forest Lodge lies just eight kilometres east of the main road.  The lodge is set in the prime location of the stunning and peaceful Luwawa Valley that overlooks Luwawa Dam, which is filled to the brim with a wide assortment of fish, including chambo and black bass.  Accommodation here ranges, from bunkhouse lodging and camping to luxury en-suite chalets. The Lodge is eco-friendly, too, with majority of the energy being solar-powered, and the restaurant’s vegetables sourced from the permaculture garden.  Luwawa Forest Lodge affords guests comfortable and spacious big-group accommodation during an exciting holiday in Africa.

The highlands of Malawi are cool, and malaria-free, with several protected regions that provide spectacular views, abundant wildlife, and diverse habitats. The combination of mountainous landscapes and lakes, merged with the colours and scenery of Africa make Malawi a phenomenal vacation experience. Lake Malawi, known as the ‘lake of stars’ makes up around one fifth of the country’s land mass, and stretches through most of its eastern borders. The Lake is filled with freshwater and hosts approximately 800 fish species. With expansive sun-kissed beaches, and the sparkling clear waters of Lake Malawi, a stay at Luwawa Forest Lodge offers guests an incredible African adventure.

There are plenty of activities in which travellers can take part in here, including rock climbing, abseiling, hiking trails, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, and even community development through projects with the locals. With the help of generous lodge guests and local communities, five local primary schools are currently receiving help with constructing development work.  Other fun activities to partake in are squash, table tennis, sailing, bird watching, guided walks and night drives through the wilderness that always prove to be an exciting experience.
