Windhoek – Ghanzi, Botswana
Parting from Windhoek we make our way to the Kalahari region, crossing into Botswana and making our way to Ghanzi, which skirts the Kalahari Desert. In the midst of seemingly barren terrain we meet up with the San Bushmen and are treated to a guided bush walk, as well as a genuine cultural experience in which we learn about these ancient people’s way of life. We are taught about how the San harness nature and manage the renewable resources around them to their maximum without damaging the fragile balance of their ecosystem. Our support of this ecotourism venture provides the San Bushmen with a sustainable income, helping to keep their fascinating culture alive. At night, you are welcomed to experience the ancient dance rituals of the San Bushmen around a campfire. On special occasions, this could be a healing or trance dance that can continue throughout the night. It is an intense spiritual experience for the participants and audience alike that is simply unforgettable.
