Queen Elizabeth National Park – Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda

This morning we enter the Queen Elizabeth National Park, where we drink in awe-inspiring views of the mountains that separate Uganda from Central Africa, as well as Lake Edwards and Lake George. Today we game drive, searching for the Uganda Kob – a type of antelope that features on the coat of arms of Uganda. We also search for big game such as elephant, lion, buffalo, spotted hyena, side striped jackals, red tailed monkeys, leopard and hippo, to name but a few. The Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts over 500 bird species and 100 mammal species, making it one of the most bio-diverse national parks in the world. Close to the park, we visit the Kyambura Gorge where we begin our trek to seek out the chimpanzees. Unlike their bigger cousins, the mountain gorilla, chimps live predominantly in the trees, and the experience of seeing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat is simply incredible.

Trip Highlights: Lake Queen Elizabeth National Park entrance and game drive, Chimpanzee trek
Accommodation: Simba Camp – Camping in twin share tents with shared facilities
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Distance Covered: +/- 240kms
Approximate Driving Time: Game drive only
