Maun – Okavango Delta, Botswana

Today you have the opportunity to partake in the overnight excursion into the Delta. Rising early, we prepare our expedition vehicle and from Maun we drive north for a few hours to reach the mokoro poler’s station. The Delta region is surrounded by many local villages where a variety of families live in a traditional way. Some of the villages are very secluded and can only be reached by means of a Mokoro – the traditional mode of transport. Mokoros are dugout canoes manoeuvred through the waterways by local guides who “pole” them through the reeds. We meet our ‘Polers’ at the Mokoro station and pack our supplies before heading out into the waterways. After a few hours along the waterways, we arrive at our mobile tented camp for the evening,  situated in the heart of the Okavango.

Upon arrival, we meet the local staff who will be your host during your stay and you will be briefed on your camp in the dome tent with twin beds and a bush en-suite bathroom – long drop toilet and a bucket shower. The rest of the day is free for leisure. Enjoy a cold drink or simply take a paddle in the Delta in a canoe. For the more adventurous traveller, join in on the activities available such as Mokoro trails and guided walking.
