Iringa – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Today we depart for Dar Es Salaam, a city that began as a fishing village before becoming a port and trading hub. Dar was once the capital of the country, and is presently the main commercial city, as well as the de facto seat of majority of government institutions in Tanzania. It is the primary seaport for the country, landlocked by adjacent countries. Dar Es Salaam, or ‘Abode of Peace’ in Arabic, is Tanzania’s biggest city, with a population of more than 2.5 million. It is also the country’s wealthiest city, and a significant economic hub.
