Day 1: Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe

After your arrival at the Victoria Falls Airport, you will be taken to your lodge. The time left in the afternoon can be spent on multiple activities available at Victoria Falls, such as wild white river rafting, throwing yourself off a bridge that is 111 metres high or just soaking in the arts and culture of this area. You will then meet your guide and the rest of your group at the lodge at 18h00 for your pre-departure meeting.

Day 2 – 4: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park – Zimbabwe

We will wake up early in the morning and leave Victoria Falls to embark on our journey to the Hwange National Park which is the largest game reserve in Zimbabwe. In the afternoon there is an optional game drive through this wildlife rich park.

Over the next two days there will be plenty of game drives for you to become familiar with the terrain and see a variety of game such as elephant, buffalo, and zebra and has a very large concentration of giraffe. You can also explore the Painted Dog Conservation Centre to see the steps they are taking to protect these endangered species.

Day 5: Nata Lodge – Botswana

Today we will embark on our longest drive of the Safari, waking up early to leave the Hwange National Park and to travel towards the Matetsi Safari Area, a private concession along the Zambezi river. Along our way to Botswana we enjoy the views of a wonderful scenic route and hope to spot the rare sable antelope. We arrive at Nata Lodge in the late afternoon.

Day 6: Nata Bird Sanctuary & Khwai River – Botswana

In the morning we travel towards the Nata Bird Sanctuary, where we will have breakfast and the chance to experience a magnificent view over the Sowa pan. The Sowa pan is a natural salt pan that forms part of the Magkadigkadi Pans. (Please note that a visit to the pans will be subject to the road conditions, water levels and time constraints).

Our camp for the night is at the Khwai Bedouin camp located in a private concession. The game viewing that you will experience will depend on the time of year you visit. The dry season (August to November) is Spring and the animals congregate around waterholes and rivers for great photo opportunities. In Summer, the birdlife is abundant and you can hopefully spot the wildfowl and raptors. The tents you will stay in have a Bedouin-style to them giving them a nomadic ambiance.

Day 7: Khwai River – Botswana

Our day will be spent on game drives in our open 4×4 vehicles exploring the Khwai River region in the morning and the afternoon. A night game drive is also included and is very exciting as you get to see the nocturnal life of these animals.

Day 8: Moremi Game Reserve – Botswana

Our next destination is the popular Moremi Game Reserve, known as one of the most wonderful reserves due to its large variety of African game and remarkable concentration of wildlife. The entire day will be spent in the unexplored landscapes of the Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 9 – 10: Okavango Delta – Botswana

We will leave Khwai in the early morning and travel towards the Western Delta onto Etsha 13 which will take us to the Okavango Delta. On Day 10 we will explore the river waterways that takes us through thick vegetation in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes). We have the opportunity to go on a one and a half hour guided walk in search of elephants, waterbuck and other animals living in this water-filled paradise.

Day 11: Mahangu – Namibia

Today we will leave the Delta waterways and islands behind and travel towards the border of Botswana, into Namibia. Afterwards we will go for an afternoon game drive in the Greater Bwabwata National Park. In this Park is the Okavango River in the west, the Kwando River in the east and it contains the entire Mahangu Game Conservation. Frequently spotted animals in this area are the elephant, roan antelope, kudu and buffalo, as well as an extensive variety of birdlife.

Day 12 – 13: Mahangu National Park – Chobe National Park – Botswana

Today we will travel through the Caprivi Strip, and cross the border into Botswana until we reach the town of Kasane, the entrance to the Chobe National Park. In the morning of day 13, we will go for a spectacular game drive in the Chobe National Park. Back at our camp, we will have time for a late breakfast and to relax. Later in the afternoon, we will go on a boat cruise on the Chobe River (starts around 15h00). During our cruise you will spot elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds. This is a wonderful chance to take some clear, close-up pictures of the animals we see.

Day 14: Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe

Today we leave Botswana and travel into Zimbabwe to get close to one of nature’s world wonders, the Victoria Falls. Here, we will experience a day full of experiences and adventures. We will go to the Victoria Falls on a guided tour and afterwards, you can choose to spend the rest of your day participating in one of the many optional activities available. (For own expense).

Day 15: Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe

This Overland African Safari Tour will finish after breakfast today. You will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport in time for your departure flight. We hope to welcome you again one day on another of our African adventures.
