Durban – Coffee Bay – Hole in the Wall

We wake up early this morning to get a head start on our marvellous journey over some of the most mountainous regions in this beautifully eclectic country. Driving through the undulating mountain passes, from the base of the mighty Drakensburg Mountains to the majestic Kei River mouth, this wonderful adventure leads us through the intriguing Wild Coast area, previously known as the Transkei, which is peppered with traditional Xhosa villages and farmlands. When passing the birthplace of Nelson Mandela – Umtata – we pay a visit to the renowned Nelson Mandela Museum, which provides us with many insights into his great life, and gives us a greater understanding of the man who showed so much devotion for his country that he willingly sacrificed a large majority of his life for the freedom of others – an act that united almost all cultures of this diverse nation. We then travel further south through the more rural regions, arriving at the Hole in the Wall at Coffee Bay in the late afternoon. Here, we spend the following two evenings soaking in the beautiful calm and serenity of the Wild Coast.
