Khorixas to Etosha National Park ,Namibia

With a local guide, we will explore the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings and Petrified Forest in the Kunene Region this morning. Khoi San have inhabited this area for 6000 years. The site was used for shamanic rituals by the inhabitants. The process resulted in the creation of 2500 rock paintings. There is a large concentration of rock petroglyphs at this site. A national monument, the Petrified Forest, is also on route, consisting of fossilized tree trunks from prehistoric times. These artifacts were created by the washing of large tree trunks down a river and depositing them in alluvial sands during prehistoric times. Etosha National Park awaits us after we leave Twyfelfontein. One of Africa’s finest game parks, Etosha is home to vast salt pans, savanna, and woodland. Located in Southern Africa, it covers 18 000 sq km. The large pan in the middle of the park is referred to as Etosha’s “great white area”. Our afternoon will be spent exploring the park in the overland Truck.
