Swakopmund, Namibia

We are departing Khorixas today for the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean where hot desert sand meets cool ocean waves. As we proceed, we will stop at the world’s largest seal colony, the Cape Cross Seal Colony. Cape Fur Seals can be seen huddled along the shore of this area in excess of 200,000. This site is also historically significant because it marks the location of the first European expedition to the Namibian coast in 1486. The king of Portugal at the time, Diego Cao, erected a cross here in honor of him. Occasionally, Cape Cross Colony may not be accessible, which would prevent us from visiting the seals. After visiting the Lichen Fields, we conclude our tour. During your guided tour, your guide will share fascinating information about the intricate lichen colonies that cover this area. The opportunity to take some memorable photographs is exceptional. The last stop before we reach Swakopmund is Wlotskasbaken, a seaside vacation destination. The picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean and quaint houses make this a fantastic photographic opportunity. A wonderful day of exploration will come to an end once we have captured these memories and arrived in Swakopmund, a beautiful coastal city located on Namibia’s coast where your tour will come to an end.
