Luderitz to Sesriem

There are always some long days of travel on an overland journey, and today is one of them as we explore further into the Namib Desert. In the western reaches of the desert, we are going to explore the dune fields. Before leaving the coast, we visit the fabled ghost town of Kolmanskop, an abandoned mining town that has been reclaimed by the desert, leaving behind a unique frame of colourful peeled wallpaper. As we continue our adventure along long dusty roads and sparsely populated farmlands, we gain a greater understanding of the vastness of rural Namibia. Slowly changing landscapes in the east and west represent the many faces of this desert country. The Barking Gecko’s unique call lulls us to sleep during our overnight stop near the dunes.
