Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

In the morning, we explore the stunning Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for the countless flamingos that are attracted to the edges of this soda lake. The actual numbers of these birds varies depending on the water level that, when low, almost transforms the lake into a haze of pink. The park was initially established as a sanctuary for black and white rhino, which are often spotted here. We spend the day searching for these pre-historic looking beasts as well as the elusive leopard, encountering buffalo, giraffe, various antelope and the occasional hippo along the way. After our game drive, we head to our campsite, arriving in the late afternoon.
