6 Reasons to go on an African Safari!

1. The Sunsets and Sunrises

South Africa offers a variety of amazing sunrises and sunsets,  whether you are on a mountain, at the beach, sitting at the top of a dune in a desert, on a sunset cruise or sitting in the middle of the bush! From blue to golden yellow, to deep orange to hues of purple, you will be blown away by the array of colours you will see.

2. The Wildlife (the Big 5)

Seeing animals in the bush is a unique experience on a safari. Whether you are walking, driving or sitting in your accommodation, seeing an animal passing by is a unique experience that will not be forgotten. Their presence as they either ignore you or stare you down, leaves you with a sense of awe because they are so beautiful to behold, even the screaming hyena will have you captivated.

3. The Culture

Africa has a vast and varied culture that offers the visitor so many different languages, religions, cuisine, social habits, music and arts that one trip to this glorious country is not enough! It is also divided into East Africa and South Africa, which adds to its diversity. Of course there are also differences in poverty versus wealthy areas, as in most countries, but don’t let this deter you from visiting our wonderful country and meeting its colourful and friendly people.

4. Walking Safaris

These are worth mentioning because for most of the tours you will be in a safari vehicle where you will still spot many animals, but walking through the bush is a much more rewarding experience. You are always accompanied by an armed ranger, and taken to areas that are considered safe, as long as you listen to your guide. You may have some unique close encounters with animals and taking photographs is much easier without other people in the way, or the bumpy drive.

5. The Food

Braais with steak, boerewors, lamb and pork chops, sosaties, seafood, ostrich, pap and various salads are the order of the day when on a safari. Not to mention all sorts of curries, stews and traditional food you can try out in some of the restaurants. With delicious flavours and seasonal foods, you will be spoilt for choice.

6. The Beaches

There are some extraordinarily beautiful beaches in Africa from Cape Town to Zanzibar, offering you plenty of fun water sports or opportunities to just lie down (apply plenty of suntan lotion) and enjoy the warm sunshine. Take long walks, swim in the sea or paddle in the rock pools looking for unusual sea creatures or sea shells.
