I dreamed of a gentle mountain,
Beneath a cloudless sky.
I spoke of a rugged coastline,
Where hungry seagulls cry.
I thought of the snow white beaches,
Where children laugh and play,
And I longed for the fiery sunset,
That ends a summer’s day.
I craved for the open bushveld,
For daisies, in a breeze.
I pictured a shady forest,
With buck beneath the trees.
I crossed a mighty ocean
To see if I could find,
These things , I love so dearly,
Alas! I had left them all behind.
