1. Sunbird Lodge

Location

A beautiful eco-friendly luxury lodge in the Great Rift Valley located on 55 acres of private land. Overlooking Lake Elementaita one can experience peace and tranquility watching the birdlife on the lake and witnessing spectacular sunsets.

Accommodation

There are 14 spacious cottages with en-suites and a large private veranda. The cottages are fitted with one king-size bed and a single bed. The roofs are thatched and natural materials have been used making you feel close to nature. The cosy restaurant seats 35 people and has a warm ambiance. A buffet breakfast is served and there is an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. There is also the option of sitting outside and taking in the invigorating fresh air. Before dinner you can sit in the lounge area and enjoy a few pre-dinner drinks.

Activities

Bird watching is a major attraction at this lodge as there are more than 450 species of birds to spot. Close by is Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Baringo, Lake Bogoria and Hells Gate National Park where you can go on nature walks. You can also visit the Ostrich Park and horse riding is also offered. Choose a day to just relax and unwind at the lodge and lie by the pool or have a massage at the beauty salon.

2. Lake Elementaita Serena Camp

Location

Well-placed on the shoreline of Lake Elementaita within Soysambu Wildlife Conservancy in the Great Rift Valley is a haven of peace and tranquility where all you can hear are the singing of birds. Here you will spot white pelicans and flamingos feeding on the algae and plankton of the lake. There is also plenty of wildlife, 15 000 animals in fact.

Accommodation

The camp has 24 luxury tents all attractively furnished with private verandas. The tents have wireless internet, mini bars and electronic safes. Also on the premises is a restaurant, bar and lounge area. Room service is offered for your convenience. When you choose to spend a day at the camp why not lie by the cool pool and then head off for a wonderful massage at the beauty salon.

Activities

Birding is a highlight, so take along a book on the birds of this area and learn more about them. Take a night game drive and experience nature at its most wild, while in the safety of your vehicle. A wonderful treat is to sit and enjoy a bush dinner where you sit in the still night air and eat under the stars.

3. Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge

Location

Situated beneath the Lion Hill and along the banks of Lake Nakuru this lodge offers picturesque panoramic views of nature. It is a two hour drive from Nairobi. The lodges have been built around the acacia trees, providing shelter and greenery to the area.

Accommodation

All the rooms offer spectacular views of the pink-fringed Lake Nakuru and are decorated with style and luxury in mind. There are 64 standard rooms and 3 luxury suites, each with their own private patio, en-suites and hot showers. The beds have mosquito nets and there are tea and coffee making facilities for your convenience. Activities

A wonderful activity is the traditional dancing that takes place every night at the Rift Valley Bar terrace. A guitarist will also fuel the mood and provide live entertainment for you. 4. Lake Nakuru Lodge

Location

The Lodge is located within Lake Nakuru National Park, in the Great Rift Valley which offers you plenty of animal and bird life on safari, especially the pink spectacular of the flamingos that pervade this area. The lodge lies in the heart of Kenya, only two hours drive from Nairobi.

Accommodation

Carefully constructed to blend in with the natural surroundings, the lodge attracts much wildlife that roam around quite frequently within the grounds. They offer accommodation for 120 people – family rooms, cottages or suites. Specialising in fine cuisine they offer guests the privilege of dining outside, either with an a la carte menu or sitting around the fire and enjoying a barbeque. There are two bars for your relaxation pleasure, Mamma Nikki and Rhino Paddock Cocktail Bar which overlooks the lake and the swimming pool.
