If you’re interested in doing a short budget African overlanding safari but have no idea where to go, let us help you decide! Our travel experts, who have more than 20 years consulting experience in Africa and have travelled all the overlanding routes, have picked these particular African overlanding safaris for their popularity and value for money.
Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s best national parks, and it’s usually a top highlight on any tourist itinerary to South Africa. On this short African overlanding safari you’ll visit both the national park and neighbouring private reserves where you can go walking through the bush in addition to doing game drives.
Namibia is one of our favourite countries in all of Africa, and this budget overlanding tour makes the most of the country’s incredible highlights, from the game-rich Etosha National Park and the giant sand dunes of the Namib Desert to the cracked floor of Sossusvlei and the adrenaline capital of Swakopmund.
Unlike most of our other budget African overlanding safaris, this tour is just for a small group, so you’ll be travelling in a minibus rather than in an overlanding truck. You’ll get to explore the diverse and beautiful country of Botswana, visiting the world-famous Okavango Delta (where you’ll have the option of doing a scenic flight over this vast and unspoiled wilderness), Moremi Game Reserve, where you’ll do game drives in an open roof 4×4, and Chobe National Park, where you’ll do sunset cruises on the Chobe River and get up close to drinking elephants. The trip ends off at Victoria Falls in neighbouring Zambia, so you can get sprayed by Africa’s largest waterfall before you fly home.
If tracking mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is on your bucket list, this is the trip to do! Uganda is one of only three countries in the world where you can see mountain gorillas, and our 12-day overlanding safari allows you to get up close and personal to these amazing great apes. That’s not all you’ll be seeing on the tour though – there’s lots more to experience Uganda, like the famous tree-climbing lions of Queen Elizabeth National Park, trekking with chimps in Murchison Falls National Park, hiking in the Rwenzori Mountains, cruising and white water rafting on the mighty Nile River, and doing a rhino tracking expedition. All this adventure in just 12 days!
This epic overlanding African safari takes you to all the highlights of East Africa in the best combination of beach and bush. You’ll explore Kenya’s Masai Mara National Park, Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Parks doing countless game drives to see amazing wildlife like lions, cheetahs, elephant and giraffe in some of Africa’s most scenic wilderness areas and finish off the trip relaxing on the white sand beaches and in the warm Indian Ocean on the beautiful tropical island of Zanzibar, just off the coast from Tanzania.
