Places to stay in Cederberg

Have a look at our selection of places to stay in Cederburg where you can stay warm and sheltered during your stay.

Kagga Kamma, situated in the tranquil southern Cederberg Mountains, offers guests a stunning retreat immersed in nature. The beautiful location of the lodge was once home to the Bushmen, whose paintings can still be found on the rocks up to this day. This spiritual land offers exquisite scenery, magnificent mountains and breathtaking evening skies. Accommodations at this luxury game reserve are settled between remarkable sandstone formations and bear a resemblance to the bushman caves and rondavels, all equipped with en-suite bathrooms. In the open-air Boma restaurant, guests can indulge in delectable South African culinary delights and a fantastic selection of local wines.

Bakkrans Nature Reserve is a unique wilderness experience that is not offered anywhere else in the region of Cederberg, providing guests with their own exclusive haven during their stay here. The reserve tries to only permit one party at a time into this exclusive accommodation, therefore giving guests sole enjoyment over the whole reserve and its facilities. The reserve is little known, and is a 6,000 hectare wilderness area in the rugged Rooi Cederberg Karoo Park, with incredible mountain ranges and a fantastic diversity of plant species, indigenous game, bird and other wildlife. Artefacts said to be over 100,000 years old have been discovered here. The stone cottages of the reserve are nestled amidst various rock art paintings on impressive rock formations, and are encircled by gorgeous mountainous views. The units are traditionally thatched, stone-walled veld cottages, constructed using materials that were mostly obtained from the reserve itself. The houses have been furnished comfortably with crisp, white linen. The bathrooms offer guests marvelous views across the greater Karoo and give you a true feeling of freedom when indulging in a shower.

Located on the pristine Doring Riverbanks in the foothills of the Cederberg region lies Oudrif, surrounded by beautiful plant and wildlife unique to the area, as well as a varied and exquisite display of wild flowers. The area is one of the biggest open air art galleries in the world with the san rock art dating back to around 5,000 years ago. Guests here can enjoy extensive vistas across the river onto the playground of plenty of bird species; a landscape of prehistoric rock formations, fossils and rock art sites, and indigenous fynbos. The river at Oudrif gives guests the chance to spend time here swimming, relaxing, fishing or even white-water rafting. Here, you can also embark on leisurely strolls, picnics or refreshing hiking trails into the wilderness whilst exploring the stunning rock art sites of the ancient San bushmen and 400 million year old fossil sites. Accommodation comes in the form of five unique straw bale cottages situated on a rocky shelf that overlooks the river. The units are tasteful and comfortable, from the crisp linen to the contemporary conveniences to the eco-friendly solar power. Each house comes with its own dedicated deck that makes for remarkable star-gazing and some serene relaxation.

The Cederberg Mountains Luxury Lodge offers deluxe accommodation in the midst of the magnificent Cederberg mountains. Here, guests can partake in guided rock art walks and visits to the Heritage Centre, as well as activities such as evening nature drives, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, and swimming in sparkling rock pools. Designed and equipped to provide every service and satisfy all needs, the accommodation is comfortable and luxuriously decorated with gorgeous indoor and outdoor living areas and awe-inspiring views onto the reserve. Guest programmes are flexible, with an exclusive chef, hostess and a guide with game viewing vehicle included.
