UShaka Marine World in Kwazulu Natal

UShaka Marine World is an exciting, adventure-packed sea world that is filled with all sorts of fun activities for the whole family. They splashed onto the scene in 2004 and won the ‘2012 Certificate of Excellence Award’ from ‘Tripadvisor’, and ‘Outstanding Achievement in thematic creative design’ by the’ Themed Entertainment Association’. It has the fifth largest aquarium in the world.

UShaka Marine World is designed around five shipwrecks that are underground, with the Phantom ship above ground from which you enter the aquarium. There are numerous restaurants in the Phantom ship with views of a shark aquarium providing live entertainment that is hard to beat. There is also a dolphin stadium and seal stadium for live shows that run daily. The seal show is a real treat and will have you laughing in your seat! There are several marine animals that have made the aquarium their home, such as a variety of sharks, sting rays, local gamefish, local moray species, giant groupers and many many more.

There are also times when you can see the penguins, sharks and stingrays being fed – a schedule is available at the entrance. For those of you who consider yourselves to be brave at heart, there is always the ‘Dangerous Creatures’ exhibition where you can encounter black throated monitors (aka’ The Dragons’), anacondas, scorpions, snakes, spiders and pythons to scare your skeleton out of you!
