Itinerary
Please note that we ask our guests to assist their guide in setting up and taking down the camp as well as assisting in the camp kitchen.
Day 1: Windhoek – Gamsberg, Namibia
We will meet your guide in Windhoek at the beginning of your adventure. Your first destination will be Gamsberg. Gamsberg is the highest peak in the Hakos Mountains, located south-west of Windhoek. Your campsite for the night is located high on the Gamsberg Pass. Relax and enjoy the moment after setting up camp. With the assistance of your guide, you can take a tour of the surrounding area in the afternoon. Enjoy the views of the wild mountains while observing mountain zebras, oryx antelopes and kudus. The campsite dinner and starry skies await you in the evening. After dinner, you sleep under the stars.
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Gamsberg
Distance: Approx. 150 km; driving time approx. 2-3 hours
Day 2: Gamsberg – Sesriem, Namibia
The journey continues south through beautiful farmland after breakfast and packing up the camp. The journey today is the destination, as it is so often the case in Namibia. After a bumpy and bendy approach to the next mountain pass, you will be rewarded with some spectacular views of Spreetshoogte Pass, one of the most beautiful in South Africa. You will be treated to magnificent views of the Namib Desert from the view point. After passing Solitaire you descend to the plains and eventually reach your campsite in Sesriem. Later that afternoon, we will visit the Sesriem Canyon, which was carved out by the Tsauchab River millions of years ago. As you explore the canyon on a hike, you can view the impressive rock formations. Enjoy a crackling campfire in the evening before retiring to your tent.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Spreetshoogte Pass, Namib Desert, Sesriem Canyon
Distance: Approx. 250 km; driving time approx. 3-4 hours
Day 3: Sossusvlei – Rostock Ritz, Namibia
As the sun rises earlier today, you rise as well. You drive towards Sossusvlei while it is still dark outside, so as to be surrounded by the Namib Desert dunes when the sun rises. Watch the sun rise behind the dunes while sipping your tea or coffee with a few rusks, causing a fascinating play of light and shadow. Following this, you visit the famous Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. The contrast between the white veld, the rust-red dunes and the dark blue sky produces memorable photographs and memories. At the end of the day, you relax with a hearty brunch. Upon packing up camp, you proceed to Rostock Ritz, located on the outskirts of the Namib Desert. In the afternoon, you are free to explore the surroundings. Enjoy the peaceful solitude of this secluded location, as well as the wonderful views of the untouched landscape. You will stay overnight in your tent.
Meals: Brunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei
Distance: Approx. 250 km; driving time approx. 3-4 hours
Day 4: Rostock Ritz – Swakopmund, Namibia
It is definitely a good idea to take a walk at sunrise. It is hard to find anything more captivating than gazing out at the seemingly endless and solitary landscape during the early morning hours, feeling utterly at peace with oneself. You will be welcomed back with breakfast by your guide. Swakopmund is situated along the Atlantic Ocean coast, where nature gives way to civilisation for a short period. After lunch, you take a city tour of Swakopmund. Swakopmund has a reputation for being Namibia’s German city; you are reminded of the German colonial era every time you turn a corner – you will recognise the German vocabulary, food, and architecture, including the train station and courthouse. Have dinner in one of the many restaurants (at your own cost). Stay at Brigadoon Guesthouse for the night.
Meals: Breakfast
Included Highlight: Swakopmund
Distance: Approx. 250 km; driving time approx. 3 hours
Day 5: Swakopmund – Brandberg, Namibia
In the morning, you depart from Swakopmund for Cape Cross, home to one of the largest seal colonies in the world. A true spectacle on land and in the sea – seals next to seals all around. Continuing inland, you reach the Brandberg Mountain. Under the shade of trees on the dry river bed of the Ugab River, you set up camp. Following lunch, a local guide leads you on a short hike to the well-known rock painting known as the “White Lady”. Return to the camp and relax for the rest of the day. Make sure you keep an eye out for visitors – sometimes desert elephants pass through the area. The evening ends with a campfire. The tent is your home for the night.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Swakopmund, Brandberg Mountain, Hike with local guide
Distance: Approx. 300 km; driving time approx. 4-5 hours
Day 6: Brandberg – Palmwag, Namibia
Before lunch, you arrive at the Petrified Forest. Get ready to be amazed by the hundreds of million-year-old petrified trunks. Consider the Welwitschia plant and the ancient basalt pillars, the Organ Pipes, that are found in this area. Palmwag is an oasis of palm trees at Uniab River in north-western Damaraland, your destination for today. You may enjoy a quick dip in the pool before venturing out on a game drive throughout the 5,000 square kilometre private concession. Afternoon light illuminates the flat hillsides and rare plants. Animals including the Oryx antelope, the kudu, the ostrich, the jackal, and the hyena are also found here. There is a possibility of spotting a lion, a black rhino, or desert elephants with a little luck. After watching the sunset, enjoy a sundowner drink before returning to the camp. It is refreshing to eat dinner at a restaurant – there will be a variety of delicious options. Your tent will be your home for the night.

The search for wild animals begins as soon as you enter through the Galton Gate. Once you arrive at Olifantsrus Camp, you set up your camp. If you are fortunate, you can observe elephants taking a bath or drinking at watering holes. A hearty breakfast is served at the camp. Your next destination is Okaukuejo, where you will spend the next two nights. There are many opportunities to view wildlife along the way. A popular hangout for many of the park’s animals, the illuminated watering hole provides an excellent opportunity for wildlife viewing and photography in the evening. Your accommodation is in a tent.
