Leaving the Masai Mara we travel to Lake Nakuru National Park which we will reach in the early afternoon. Known for its thousands of flamingos nesting along the shores, the alkalinity levels at the banks of the Lake Nakuru river play a big role in this. There are also over 450 bird species and 50 mammals including the Rothschild’s giraffe and Defassa waterbucks. Leopards have also been spotted lounging in the branches of fever trees. The park is also known as a sanctuary for the black and white rhino, as it was declared a sanctuary in 1987. Spend the evening relaxing at Flamingo Hill Camp.
