Day 3

Arusha – Serengeti National Park

Following breakfast, we start our adventure into the Serengeti National Park and the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater – two of Africa’s leading wildlife regions. Your 3 day and 2 night excursion starts as you hop on the specialised 4×4 safari vehicle which leads us on an incredible game drive through the Park by expert driver/guides. The trucks we use have sliding windows and a big, pop-up roof that is ideal for fantastic game viewing.

With an area of 14,763 square kilometres, the Serengeti is incredibly vast. We camp and spend time game viewing in the central Serengeti ‘Seronera’ region, which is situated in the southeast of the Park. You can expect to see a variety of wildlife such as buffaloes, lions, zebras, wildebeest, elephants along with many other animals.

Due to the size of the reserve, certain areas will not be available to visit during our stay here. As we travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and into the Serengeti National Park, you will begin to realise the enormity of this region, admiring the huge populations of wildlife that roam the acacia-spotted plains.

The time has come for you to experience “Africa’s Garden of Eden” up close. A final safari experience awaits the group today on the crater floor. If you want to see wildlife, make sure your camera is charged!

Because of the crater walls and the enclosed nature of the crater, its own ecosystem has been created, including grasslands, swamps, acacia forests, and Lake Makat.

You may be required to show a Yellow Fever certificate upon entering the country(s) visited. Please check in with your local health expert for advice on Yellow Fever and other inoculations required for this area. According to the WHO and CDC, there is no risk of yellow fever in Botswana. It is compulsory to show a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate if you are travelling to Botswana from a Yellow Fever endemic country, or have recently travelled to a Yellow Fever endemic country.

What is a participation tour?

Your safari will require some participation on your part. The tour group is usually divided into small groups and given different tasks which change on a day to day basis. These will include helping with meal prep, cleaning up after means and packing out tables and chairs. It's all part of your adventure and when everyone puts in a little effort the trip will run smoothly.

All camping equipment (with the exception of your sleeping bag and pillow) is supplied. We supply dome tents which you will need to assemble and disassemble, it's really simple and only takes 5 minutes. All tents have built-in insect nets. Mattresses are also available, which are approximately 4cm thick, warm and comfortable. You will simply need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, sheet and towel.

What is an overland truck?

Your trusted transport is a custom built 24 seater vehicle. It has internal storage for your main luggage along with a safety box for valuable. The Overland truck also has large sliding windows, perfect for game viewing. However we will be travelling in smaller safari vehicles in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Your overland seat will be reclining and has a USB charger port along with air conditioning. The truck has a fully equipped mobile kitchen and holds a 250L tank of drinking water.
