The Fish River stretches 650 kms in length, making it Namibia’s longest river. Its source is located in the eastern Naukluft Mountains and runs southwest of Ai-Ais into the Orange River. The canyon itself is situated along the lower area of the Fish River and is one of the most remarkable natural creations of Southern Africa. It runs 550 metres deep, 27 kilometres wide and is the oldest canyon in the world, formed around 500 million years back, with some of its bottom rocks aging up to about 2,600 million years. Catfish can be found in the river and survive the arid seasons by digging into the mud and waiting for the water to return. The levels of the water are usually highest from February to April, and the highest known temperature at the Canyon’s floor is 58 degrees Celsius.

Your safari will require some participation on your part. The tour group is usually divided into small groups and given different tasks which change on a day to day basis. These will include helping with meal prep, cleaning up after means and packing out tables and chairs. It's all part of your adventure and when everyone puts in a little effort the trip will run smoothly.What is required on a camping tour?
All camping equipment (with the exception of your sleeping bag and pillow) is supplied. We supply dome tents which you will need to assemble and disassemble, it's really simple and only takes 5 minutes. All tents have built-in insect nets. Mattresses are also available, which are approximately 4cm thick, warm and comfortable. You will simply need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, sheet and towel.What is an overland truck?
Your trusted transport is a custom built 24 seater vehicle. It has internal storage for your main luggage along with a safety box for valuable. The Overland truck also has large sliding windows, perfect for game viewing. However we will be travelling in smaller safari vehicles in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Your overland seat will be reclining and has a USB charger port along with air conditioning. The truck has a fully equipped mobile kitchen and holds a 250L tank of drinking water. There are however no on-board bathrooms on the overland truck, but your driver will make rest stops along the way for your convenience.FROM
