Day 2: Cape Town – Cederberg, South Africa

Be ready to hit the road in the overland vehicle and explore the Western Cape’s breathtaking scenery on our way to the !Khwa ttu San Culture and Education Centre. Here you will learn about the history and culture of the ancient San people. We’ll arrive at the campsite in the afternoon and have some free time to explore the area.

Day 3: Cederberg – Orange River, South Africa

Our journey takes us northward to the South African side of the Orange (Gariep) River. Following camp setup, we indulge in some early evening swimming, unwinding and maybe even some river canoeing (optional). Or just sit by the banks and watch the water wind its way to some heavy rapids.

Today we cross the border into Namibia, so be sure to have your correct visa ready. We then travel through to the magnificent Fish River Canyon, the biggest in the continent and the second largest in the world. Take some time to explore the canyon rim and admire the dramatic sunset as it disappears behind the edge of the canyon. After snapping some amazing pics, we head back to camp for the rest of the evening.

Day 5: Fish River Canyon – Namib Desert, Namibia

Day 23: Lusaka – South Luangwa, Zambia

The group will have plenty of opportunity to mingle on the overland vehicle as they are driven throughout the Zambian countryside to the campground along the banks of the Luangwa River, despite the fact that today’s travel day may be lengthy. After you arrive, you will have free time to explore your surroundings.

We will travel back to Stone Town stopping for a guided tour of the spice plantation where you can walk through the farmlands and learn more about the spices and their medicinal and culinary uses. Do I need a Yellow Fever Vaccine?

You may be required to show a Yellow Fever certificate upon entering the country(s) visited. Please check in with your local health expert for advice on Yellow Fever and other inoculations required for this area. According to the WHO and CDC, there is no risk of yellow fever in Botswana. It is compulsory to show a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate if you are travelling to Botswana from a Yellow Fever endemic country, or have recently travelled to a Yellow Fever endemic country.

What is a participation tour?

Your safari will require some participation on your part. The tour group is usually divided into small groups and given different tasks which change on a day to day basis. These will include helping with meal prep, cleaning up after means and packing out tables and chairs. It's all part of your adventure and when everyone puts in a little effort the trip will run smoothly.

What is required on a camping tour?

All camping equipment (with the exception of your sleeping bag and pillow) is supplied. We supply dome tents which you will need to assemble and disassemble, it's really simple and only takes 5 minutes. All tents have built-in insect nets. Mattresses are also available, which are approximately 4cm thick, warm and comfortable. You will simply need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, sheet and towel.

What is an overland truck?

Your trusted transport is a custom built 24 seater vehicle. It has internal storage for your main luggage along with a safety box for valuable. The Overland truck also has large sliding windows, perfect for game viewing. However we will be travelling in smaller safari vehicles in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Your overland seat will be reclining and has a USB charger port along with air conditioning. The truck has a fully equipped mobile kitchen and holds a 250L tank of drinking water. There are however no on-board bathrooms on the overland truck, but your driver will make rest stops along the way for your convenience.
