Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, Kenya
You will be collected in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, at 09h00 before being driven to Porini Amboseli National Park in a minibus. It will be a long journey of 5 hours before we reach our luxury tented camp, but we should arrive just in time for lunch. You will have some relaxing time before tea before we set off for a local Masai Village and experience how they live, specifically their cattle farming. The Masai are a semi-nomadic tribe who live under the communal land management system which allows them to utilise resources in a sustainable manner.
Our day continues with an exciting game drive in the exclusive Selenkay Conservancy. Along the journey you will have fantastic vistas of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Our day game drive will continue on into the evening where we will look for nocturnal life in the ecosystem. Many big cats have been seen in the Conservancy and you will also see elephants and a wide range of other animals including large numbers of giraffes, zebra, and antelopes.
Back at the campsite you can enjoy a delicious dinner around the camp fire.
Accommodation: Selenkay Conservancy Adventure Camp offering a more adventurous camping experience that feel more like ‘real camping’.
Please note: There is an optional flight upgrade available at extra cost, if you prefer to fly from Nairobi to Amboseli instead of driving.
Day 2: Amboseli National Park & Selenkay Conservancy, Kenya
After what will hopefully be a good night’s rest you can head to the dining area for breakfast. The morning will be spent viewing the game in Amboseli National Park following a private track in the park. We will stop for lunch along the way before continuing our search for wildlife.
Once the sun has set we will drive on into the night using powerful spotlights to find animals in the dark. Nocturnal sightings include bat-eared foxes, servals, caracals, aardvark and African wild cats, among others.
The park is named after Lake Amboseli, but this lake is now parched and looks like a crusted stretch of volcanic soil that creates a mirage so that it looks like a shimmering lake. The park is filled with elephants whose population is well over 1000 and have survived the scathe of poachers to date. Birdlife is in abundance and hopefully you will see some hunting taking place with hyenas, jackals, lions, leopards and cheetahs on the prowl.
Dinner will be back at the camp where you can enjoy an evening of conversation and laughter with your fellow companions.
Accommodation: Selenkay Conservancy Adventure Camp
Day 3: Amboseli to Nairobi to Ol Kinyei Conservancy, Kenya
An early morning will ensure we leave camp in time to catch the 09h00 flight from Wilson Airport connecting another flight scheduled at 10h00 to the Mara. Upon arrival at the airstrip you will be met and transferred to the Porini Mara Camp, located inside the Ol Kinyei Conservancy.
You will have some time to settle in before we head off on our first game drive, . Our expert guide will take us in search of wildlife in open-sided 4×4 safari vehicles. Dinner will be held back at the campsite. Hopefully you will have fantastic sightings of black and white rhino.
After lunch take an afternoon game drive, followed by a sundowner and night game drive on the way back to Camp. Dinner and overnight Porini Mara Camp.
Accommodation: Porini Mara Camp located inside Ol Kinyei Conservancy
Day 4: Ol Kinyei Conservancy, Kenya
The entire day is spent game viewing the Masai Mara National Park in 4×4 vehicles. Enjoy an evening night game drive before returning to the comfortable camp where you can sit back under the stars, soaking up the sounds of the African bush at night.
Accommodation: Ol Kinyei Conservancy
Optional Activities: Balloon Safari and Champagne Breakfast
Day 5: Ol Kinyei Conservancy to Nairobi – Kenya
We will leave the campsite after enjoying our last game drive in the conservancy and breakfast to ensure we arrive in time for our flight to Nairobi at 12h15.
