We will arrive in time for lunch at the safari lodge, before setting off on our first game drive in Kenya in a 4×4 safari vehicle with an expert guide.
We will return to the lodge for dinner where we can enjoy the views of the active waterhole, grasslands and distant Mount Kilimanjaro. The waterhole attracts a wide variety of animals and is considered one of Kenya’s finest.
Accommodation: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge (Full Board & including park fees)
Day 2: Tsavo National Park – Kenya
The entire day will be spent game driving through Tsavo National Park in a comfortable 4×4 safari vehicle. We will have trips after breakfast and again after lunch.
The Tsavo West National Park and Tsavo East National Park make up one of the largest sanctuaries in the world. Huge plains and unusual geological landscapes make up the terrain. There is a wide variety of wildlife and hopefully you will be able to see some or all of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino), but also a diversity of wildlife including cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, hyenas and kudus.
Optional activities such as bush walks and dance performances are available at the lodge for your entertainment.
Our accommodation is at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge which is made up of the volcanic rock from the area and blends in well with the environment. The lodge has fantastic views across the plains of Mount Kilimanjaro that rests in the distance. There is a lovely terraced area where you can view the Kilaguni’s waterhole and witness their nocturnal movements.
Accommodation: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge
Day 3: Tsavo National Park to Amboseli National Park, Kenya
We will enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge and can enjoy more splendid views of the waterhole. We will then travel to Amboseli National Park, where we will spend the following two nights. Enjoy more beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the background with wildlife sightings of elephants, giraffes, zebras and cheetahs that are drawn to this untouched wilderness.
Arriving at our lodge in Amboseli we have lunch and a refreshing swim in the pool or just relax under the shade of the trees before heading into the bush on a game drive.
Accommodation: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge
Day 4: Amboseli National Park, Kenya
Day four is spent on a morning and afternoon game viewing drive with lunch at the lodge in-between. In Amboseli National Park we are almost sure to get up close to big herds of elephants amongst other animals found in the lush swamps and arid grasslands of this untouched area. Mount Kilimanjaro makes for stunning photographs that you can add to your safari collection.
The park is named after Lake Amboseli, but this lake is now parched and looks like a crusted stretch of volcanic soil that creates a mirage so that it looks like a shimmering lake. The park is filled with elephants whose population is well over 1000 and have survived the scathe of poachers to date.
We will return to the lodge in the heart of Amboseli for a relaxed dinner surrounded by the African bush. The lodge is a single storey building that opens directly onto the grounds where there is a large swimming pool where you can relax and have a few drinks. The rooms have charming Masai themes to add to your African experience.
Accommodation: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge
Day 5: Amboseli to Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
After breakfast we will drive to Wilson Airport in Nairobi for a one-hour domestic flight to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Touching down at Ol Kiombo airstrip, the driver is there to take you to our overnight camp inside Masai Mara Game Reserve. Expect one of the most spectacular wildlife shows on earth, the Great Wildebeest Migration (depending on the movements of these animals), The Big Five and an endless list of other animals that can be seen roaming on the open grasslands.
From our base, Ilkeliani Camp, we embark on an exhilarating sunset game drive before we enjoy dinner together at the camp, which sits on the shaded banks of the river. This spot is ideal for watching elephants down at the river, as well as many other wild animals and birds that visit the area.
You can look forward to a unique experience of luxury camping at Ilkeliani Camp inside the reserve. This is an environmentally socially responsible safari camp situated along the Talek River amidst indigenous trees. Many elephants come here to drink, amongst other wildlife that you can view from your tent. This luxury tent is spacious and will provide you with all the comfort you need while relaxing in nature. The tents are slightly raised for better views of the surrounds and are equipped with en-suites, camping chairs, a day bed for lying back and listening to the sounds of the wild, especially at night.
Accommodation: Ilkeliani Camp
