Day 1: Windhoek, Namibia

A short tour briefing will be conducted at 14h00 at the hotel before we set off for Katatura where we take a bicycle tour around the bustling area for two hours. We then head for Windhoek to see the sights and enjoy a drink or two at Joe’s Beerhouse or a similar restaurant where we will continue our tour briefing and enjoy warm hospitality and an own expense dinner.

Meals included: None

Day 2: Windhoek – Kgalagadi, Namibia

We leave the city life behind us and head for the wide open plains of the vast Kalahari Desert. We journey through remote farming towns where we will have time to mingle with the locals. We will arrive at our overnight camp in the Kgalagadi in the late afternoon and after familiarizing ourselves with the camp procedures we enjoy a meal under the stars.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Botswana/South Africa

After a hearty breakfast, we head off on our game drive through the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. This Park spans both South Africa and Botswana. There is a large population of predators here and perhaps you will have the chance to see some of these animals in action. The animals you will see include cheetah and the massive Black Maned Lion. For those of you who have a knowledge of African birdlife, there will be plenty of opportunities to test your knowledge. After a long day of driving you can rest your weary heads at a camp that is situated amongst the Camel Thorn trees.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Kgalagadi – Fish River Canyon, Namibia

An early morning rise will allow us to see the sun bring the dunes to life with a red hue. We clean and pack up the camp site and then travel on one of the most scenic Kalahari roads, riding over sky high dunes which offer spectacular vantage points. We are heading to Keetmanshoop, then Fish River Canyon – the second largest canyon in the world. We will spend some time here before another highlight of the day – the hot springs in Ais-Ais located in the depths of the canyon.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Fish River Canyon – Aus, Namibia

In the morning we will take a quick walk around the canyon before taking a trip on the remote roads to the southernmost point of our journey – the gushing Orange River. This area forms the border with South Africa. We stop here for lunch and possibly a refreshing dip in the river. Then it is off to the Namib Desert to the quaint town of Aus where we will rest for the night.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Aus – Luderitz – Kolmaskop – Aus, Namibia

We arise early to cross the open desert plains that will lead us to the Atlantic Ocean and our first stop of the day at the Ghost Town of Kolmanskop. This area used to be a working Diamond mine, but now the town is slowly being reclaimed by the ever-shifting desert sands. We enjoy an entertaining tour that leads us through the historical sites of the town. Next on the agenda is the small harbour town of Luderitz, a very inhospitable coast. We take a trip to the cross planted by Dias in 1487 and learn more about this town. In the afternoon we head back to the desert with a stop-over where we spend time with a colony of wild desert horses. We enjoy a lunch which will be at your own expense.

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7: Namib Nature Reserve, Namibia

An exciting day awaits us after a leisurely morning walk into the town and visiting a local hotel. We travel into the heart of the Namib with its wide open plains, red dunes and huge mountains of stone. Over the following two nights we lodge at the Greenfire Desert Camp, a remote camp nestled against a rock outcrop. This is a conservancy that is part of the Namib Rand Nature Reserve. We will have plenty of time to see the variety of desert-adapted ecology and wildlife as we go on various walks and day and night game drives.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8: Desert Reserve, Namibia

Waking up to the stillness of the desert that surrounds us is a wonderful way to begin the day. This is a protected wilderness that is subsidised by the tourism industry. Today our qualified guide will teach you more about the animals that survive here in these natural surroundings.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9: Sossusvlei Dunes, Namibia

Another early start as we head off across the endless desert plains on to Sesriem Canyon and the Sossusvlei dunes – the highest in the world. We will explore the canyon on foot for most of our journey, but will then use a 4×4 to cover the remaining area. We will climb awe-inspiring dunes before we end the day off at a wild desert camp.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10 – 11: Swakopmund, Namibia

After crossing the Namib Naukluft Park we reach the dramatic Lunar Landscape peppered with ancient Welwitschia plants. Then it is off to Walvis Bay, a coastal town where we can spend some time by the Lagoon. Our journey continues as we head to Swakopmund where we will spend the following two nights in a comfortable Greenfire Lodge. There is plenty of time to explore this holiday town before sitting together and enjoying an evening meal at your own expense. There are optional activities here such as quad biking, sand boarding and sky diving.

Meals included: Breakfast x2, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12: Skeleton Coast – Spitzkoppe, Namibia

On the cards today is a trip to the barren Skeleton Coast – a scene of shipwrecks that washed up here years ago. Then we enjoy some time with a large Fur Seal Colony at Cape Cross. Crossing the desert we will reach the towering granite peaks of the Spitzkoppe. We have the afternoon to explore this area. Our camp tonight will be nestled at the foot of the mountain.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 13: Twyfelfontein – Palmwag, Namibia

Prepare for a busy day today. We start off by visiting the Organ Pipes and the well-known old rock engravings at Twyfelfontein. We will then head to Damaraland and cross the Grootberg mountain pass where we will camp near the oasis of Palmwag. This is home to the rare Desert Rhino, elephants and many other animals that have adapted to the environment. We hope to have many close encounters with these animals today.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Days 14 – 15: Etosha National Park, Namibia

One of the highlights of our trip – Etosha National Park awaits us. Known for its big game we will spend one evening at a waterhole where you will spot diverse wildlife. There will be plenty of game drives for us to explore the area with.

Meals included: Breakfast x2, Lunch x2, Dinner x2

Day 16: Etosha – Waterberg, Namibia

Another early morning game drive where new wildlife encounters await us. We will then exit the park and travel down to the Waterberg Plateau National Park with its ecologically diverse ecosystem with over 200 bird species and perhaps a sighting of the rare small antelope. An afternoon hike will allow us to enjoy the views of the Kalahari from the summit. We camp at the base tonight.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 17: Windhoek, Namibia
