Today we depart from the Lowveld and travel a lengthy, picturesque journey to Polokwane. En route we make a stop-off at some of the finest vistas in South Africa, including the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window. The numerous viewpoints provide fantastic photographic opportunities. The capital of Limpopo, Polokwane, is the biggest metropolitan complex in the north and a primary economic hub. It’s close distance to the adjacent countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland, as well as its convenient proximity from the Kruger National Park and Magoebaskloof, makes Polokwane the ideal getaway and a fantastic destination in itself. We set up camp on the dense green grasses of our campsite situated outside of the city before indulging in a relaxing swim in the pool.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Included Activity: Blyde River Canyon

Day 4

Blydepoort to Palapye, South Africa

Following a swift restock of our supplies, we travel a lengthy distance to the tiny town of Palapye, located midway between Francistown and the capital of Botswana, Gaborone. This well-known ‘stopover’ town for those on their way to South Africa is famous for the Morupele Colliery coal mines which provide energy to the Morupele Power Station, the main domestic source of electricity in Botswana.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5

Palapye to Maun, Botswana

Maun is the area from which we leave for our adventure into the Delta. This evening we prepare ourselves for the overnight optional expedition. Your guide will brief you on what to expect on your excursion to the Delta. We recommend having a smaller backpack to pack in all the supplies needed for this trip.

The Delta is a massive expanse of water that has journeyed from the highlands of Angola and spread out to create the world’s biggest inland delta, and the only one of its kind. Peppered with tropical islands, the Delta is famous for its spectacular diversity of bird species and wildlife

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 - 7

Maun to Okavango Delta to Maun, Botswana

We awake early to depart from Maun and travel north to arrive at the mokoro (traditional dug-out canoes) poler’s station. The Delta area is dotted with various local villages where life is lived in a traditional manner. Some of the villages are extremely isolated and can only be reached by means of mokoros. At the Mokoro station we are introduced to our polers who navigate our canoes through the narrow waterways. We locate a place in which to camp for the evening, situated in the heart of the Okavango. For those not opting to partake in the Delta excursion, spend your following two days at the charming campsite unwinding near the pool or competing in a game of volleyball. There is also a crocodile farm close by that opens its feeding times for visitors.

On day 7, we have one last chance for a game walk before heading back to Maun. Following a lovely ride in a mokoro, we reach Maun at midday and have the opportunity to appreciate the full magnitude of the Delta by means of an optional scenic flight from above the Okavango (dependent on weather conditions & availability).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Optional Activity: Overnight Delta Excursion

Day 8

Maun to Nata Region, South Africa

Departing from the picturesque part of Botswana, we make our way to our next campsite for the evening, Elephant Sands. An optional game drive or bush walk can be taken on arrival at the campsite.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Optional Activity: Game Drive / Bush Walk

Day 9

Nata Region to Chobe National Park, Botswana

Today we make our way to Kasane where we set up for camp on the Chobe Riverbanks. The Chobe River creates a divider between Botswana, Namibia and Zambia. Chobe is one of the finest game parks in Botswana, famous for its enormous herds of elephant. Elephant, hippo and various birds can be spotted from our campsite whilst we enjoy another gorgeous African sunset.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Included Activity: Boat cruise on the Chobe River

Day 10

Chobe National Park to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

This morning we make our way to Victoria Falls. The town of Victoria Falls, named after the renowned World Heritage site, as well as the water falls, is located on the Zambezi River and is enclosed by the Victoria Falls National Park. Conveniently located in the centre of town, our campsite is within walking distance to the adventure activity booking agents as well as numerous restaurants and shops. A 20 minute stroll along the main road will bring you to the access point to view the mighty falls which are located between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Known as Mosi o Tunya or ‘the smoke that thunders’, Victoria Falls was named by David Livingstone who discovered them during his adventurous explorations. It was once one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World at 1700 metres wide and approximately 100 metres high, making it the world’s biggest sheet of falling water as well as a truly unforgettable African sight.

Following our activities briefing, we spend our afternoon unwinding at the campsite’s pool, viewing the majestic Victoria Falls or simply exploring the variety of gorgeous sights and delights of the town.
