21 Day Victoria Falls to Cape Town Premium Camping Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Livingstone, Zambia (Vic Falls)

You will have some time to explore your surroundings before the welcome meeting at 18h00. There are a variety of activities you can take at this World Heritage Site. You can take a microlight over the falls, go white water rafting, bungee jump or take a boat cruise. This is a wonderful opportunity to make the best of your visit to the magnificent falls. This thundering waterfall is known as ‘Mosi-Oa-Tunya, the ‘Smoke that thunders’ in Tsonga. You can enjoy an own expense dinner from a good selection of restaurants recommend to you by your tour leader.

Day 2: Livingstone, Victoria Falls

Today is the second day in which you can take part in the adventure activities provided in Victoria Falls. Take a bungee off of Victoria Falls bridge and get a different perspective of it. There are also half day or full day white water rafting adventures and a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi.

Day 3: Livingstone (Victoria Falls) to Chobe River (Kasane), Botswana

An early start to the day will get us over the border and into Botswana in good time to reach the town of Kasane before lunch. In the afternoon we will get to enjoy a sunset boat cruise and spot amazing wildlife like elephant, buffalo, kudu, bushbuck, hippo, giraffe and sable. During the Summer months you can look forward to some incredible birdlife that comes to life in and around the river. Please note that there is an optional Boat Photo Safari also available if you choose to not do the sunset cruise.

Day 4: Chobe River (Kasane) to Elephant Sands, Botswana

We will begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Chobe National Park, then in the afternoon we will set off for Elephant Sands which is situated close to Nata. There is a waterhole that Elephant Sands is famous for as it is one of the top ten in Africa that is known for prolific wildlife. Here you can get fairly close to  wild dogs, antelope and elephants on foot.

Day 5: Elephant Sands to Maun, Botswana

We travel west along the famous elephant highway which is well known for spotting elephants on the side of the road. Once in Maun you have the option of taking a spectacular bird’s eye-view over the tranquil waters of the Okavango in a light aircraft. You can get a good idea of the magnitude of this labyrinth of channels and islands. You can also spot pods of hippos and herds of buffaloes as you fly over. If you choose not to do the flight you can enjoy some quiet time back at the campsite.

OPTIONAL OKAVANGO DELTA FLY-IN 2 NIGHT DELTA EXPERIENCE

Leaving early this morning we have a long drive to the north-west of Botswana and into Maun. From there you will fly into the Okavango Delta and camp for two nights near Chief’s Island which borders Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 6: Maun, Botswana

We travel like the locals do in a mokoro or traditional dug-out canoe through the calm waters of the Okavango. The poler will guide you along as you sit back and watch daily activities of the animals around you. The length of the journey depends on the water level. We will stop for a picnic lunch along the way and enjoy a nature walk. We will then return to Maun before the sun sets over the water.

OPTIONAL OKAVANGO DELTA FLY-IN 2 NIGHT DELTA EXPERIENCE

Rise early for a nature walk with your own professional guide (a maximum of two guests per guide), returning for a late breakfast. Relax at camp reading a book or cooling down from the midday heat in the fresh waters of the Delta (under the watchful eye of your guide). In the afternoon after the midday heat has dissipated you will venture out again into nature in search of birds and possibly some wildlife. Should you wish to explore for the whole day, we’ll be happy to pack you a picnic lunch. You will also get a chance to go to the nearby islands in a mokoro, the traditional dug-out canoe that seats two people. Your engine is a human being called a poler. Spend your last night in the heart of the Delta and African bush and fall asleep to the sound of hippos grunting. Early the next morning you will fly back to Maun to meet up with your group.

Day 7: Maun to Ghanzi, Botswana

We head to Ghanzi today for our last night in Botswana where we will visit a farm where the San Bushmen will share their ancient knowledge with us. There is an optional walk you can partake in with the bushmen and an ancient dance ceremony in the evening. The night time should bring clear skies so you can see the millions of stars up above.

OPTIONAL OKAVANGO DELTA FLY-IN 2 NIGHT DELTA EXPERIENCE

An early breakfast will get us ready for an early flight back to Maun where you will meet the rest of the group and continue on to Ghanzi. We will spend the day at a farm with the Bushmen who are eager to welcome you and spend time sharing their knowledge with you. There is also a dance ceremony that will be performed around the campsite under the starry skies.

Day 8: Ghanzi to Windhoek, Namibia

We will set off early for a long drive through the west of Botswana and across the border into Namibia. You can explore the sights during the day in the town such as the museums or craft market. Dinner can be enjoyed at one of the famous restaurants (at your own expense). Why not treat your tastebuds to something new like kudu, ostrich, impala or crocodile! Here you will find that some people will be joining or leaving the group as this is a combo tour. You may also get a new tour leader and crew, but we assure you this change over will not affect the high quality of service we offer.

Day 9: Windhoek to Etosha National Park, Namibia

After an early morning rise we will head for the western parts of Botswana and cross the border into Namibia where you can enjoy the sun, sand and sea. Dinner tonight will be at your own expense at one of the famous restaurants. Why not treat your tastebuds to kudu, ostrich, impala or crocodile! As this is a combo tour this is where some people will either join or leave the group. We may also change crew or vehicles, but rest assured you will receive the same quality service and professionalism that you have become accustomed to.

Day 10: Etosha National Park, Namibia

You will spend the day in the comfort of the Adventure Overland Safari vehicle taking in the sights and sounds of the bush. Elephants, giraffes, antelopes, lions and other animals graze and hunt while you can view them and take photos of them from the perfect vantage point of the truck. You will sleep in the newest campsite inside Etosha National Park listening to the echoes of the bush.

Day 11: Etosha National Park to Kamanjab, Namibia

Tonight you can look forward to staying on a family farm 20 km outside of Kamanjab. Here you can enjoy guided tours discovering the lifestyle of the Himba Tribe. Learn about their ancestral beliefs, herbal medicines, their dress and discover what a smoke bath is.

Day 12: Kamanjab to Brandberg, Namibia

We travel to Brandberg today at 2.573m above sea level which is the highest peak in Namibia. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive a UTV off-road vehicle. Here you can choose from several guided tours and experience the spectacular scenery. There are satellite phone communications and vehicle tracking for your safety.

We offer a 4 hour White Lady Ultimate Adventure full of fun and adventure. Visit the White Lady Bushmen Painting and see the beautiful scenery along the Ugab River that flows between multicoloured rocks of bright orange. Go for a spin in the sand and drive through the rocky terrain towards the local villages and the entrance to the painting. You can enjoy refreshments while roughing it in the terrain.

Day 13: Brandberg to Swakopmund, Namibia

Swakopmund is our next destination on our exciting tour. Here you can enjoy the cooler Atlantic sea air, have a few cultural experiences and take part in some adventurous activities like quad biking and sandboarding. You will have plenty of opportunities to try the local food as only breakfast is provided. There are a variety of bakeries and cafes with very reasonably priced food. (approx. USD 5-12)

Day 14: Swakopmund, Namibia

There is lots to do and explore in Swakopmund and you will have plenty of time to do so today. Take a walk along the beach to see the waves crashing against the shore or visit the Kristal Gallery where you can see the largest Quartz Crystal Cluster on display (14 100 kgs). You can also browse lots of curio and book shops and purchase gifts for friends or family. If you are wanting to do something more active you can go bungee jumping, quad biking or skydiving, amongst other activities.

Day 15: Swakopmund to Boesman’s Camp, Namibia

We travel to Boesman’s Camp today which is situated on the border of the Namib Naukluft National Park, the largest conservation area in Africa. You will be taken on a guided desert walk where you will learn about the mysteries of fauna and flora of the desert, as well as the San (bushmen) in this area.

Day 16: Boesman’s Camp to Sesriem, Namibia

Today we visit Sesriem Canyon where sedimentary rock has been carved out by water erosion. We will also climb Dune 45 at 170m for spectacular views of the valley and surrounding dunes. Later on we will be transferred to the famous Sossusvlei and Deadvlei dunes.

Day 17: Sesriem to Fish River Canyon, Nambia

Prepare for a long drive to the Fish River Canyon as we head south and pass through the small towns of Helmeringhausen and Bethanien and a few farms. Although it is a long day of driving you will be rewarded with a beautiful sunset over the canyon’s rim.

Day 18: Fish River Canyon to Gariep River, Namibia

Our destination for today is the Gariep River where you can go on canoe trips (optional) to enjoy viewing the wildlife around you. We will camp on the Namibian side of the border where you can relax around the campfire and enjoy another stunning African sunset before enjoying a good night’s rest.

Day 19: Gariep River to Trawal, South Africa

We will cross the border into South Africa today where we will spend some time at a Kid’s Project in Kamieskroon  where we will play with the children. Then it is on to the famous and beautiful Namaqualand area where there are blooming flowers in early Spring. We will spend the night camping in a small vineyard farm in Trawal close to the Cederburg Mountains where you will have the opportunity to taste and buy some wine.

Day 20: Trawal to Cape Town, South Africa

We continue on to the lively city of Cape Town with its picturesque beaches and mountains. Our hotel will be close to the vibrant V&A Waterfront where there are many shops and other activities you can enjoy. Try out the delicious Cape Malay Curries or some of the fresh fish dishes to see what local cuisine is like. We suggest you extend your stay and go to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years, or take the cable car up Table Mountain for exquisite views of the peninsula.
