Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha, Tanzania
On arrival in Arusha, you will be transferred to your lodge situated in Arusha’s indigenous forests. Spend the rest of the day exploring the lodge grounds, relaxing at the pool or taking part in one of optional activities on offer.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Manyara, Tanzania
After a scrumptious breakfast, our safari begins. Stopping in the town of Arusha, we pick up some last minute supplies before heading to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its massive elephant population and towering baobab trees. It’s also the center of the great migration route which sees 3000 elephant, 25 000 wildebeest and 30 000 zebra moving through this area during the migration months. We enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and an afternoon game drive.

Day 3: Cultural Activities at Manyara, Tanzania
We dedicate today to exploring the cultural diversity of Mto-wa-Mbu. We begin our exciting expedition passing a variety of farms and visiting a Chagga family who brew banana beer. Your guide will tell you all about the local community, their crops and how they remain sustainable. We enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal prepared by a local Mama before setting off on a guided walking tour to the beautiful Lake Papyrus, rich with birdlife and hippos. Time permitting; we may do some light trekking up to the waterfall.
Take out your cameras as we view the stunning lake on top of the Rift Valley wall before making our way to the banana plantation and rice field. We end our interactive cultural tour with a visit to a local village. Semi-nomadic herders, the Maasai people are known for their unique traditional dress and lifestyle. We have a once in a lifetime cultural experience at the Maasai Boma before returning to our lodge for dinner and a peaceful nights’ rest.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park – Lake Eyasi, Tanzania
Today after a delicious breakfast we travel to Lake Manyara National Park for an early morning game drive. Lake Manyara National Park has a shallow, alkaline lake and is known for its bird species and primate-filled forests. Wildlife highlights at this park include large flocks of flamingos who frequent the lake along with elusive tree-climbing lions. After a picnic lunch we embark on a short game drive before making our way to our accommodation at Lake Eyasi.

Distance: 120 km (3 – 4 hours travelling time)
Day 5: Lake Eyasi, Tanzania
Prepare for another exciting cultural experience as today we interact with local Bushmen and Blacksmith communities. Giving you a taste of the Stone Age, we explore the lifestyle and survival techniques of the Hadzabe Tribe – nomadic hunter-gatherers. We also visit the closely related Datoga tribe, these blacksmiths developed their centuries old trade of making arrow heads and brass trinkets for the Hadzabe Tribe. You will have the opportunity to purchase some of their metalwork to take home.

Day 6: Lake Eyasi – Serengeti, Tanzania
Making our way towards the Serengeti National Park we travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After a picnic lunch we set out on a game drive in the park before arriving at our accommodation for the next 3 nights.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The center of the Serengeti National Park boasts an incredible landscape for game viewing with its infinite grasslands and herds of wildlife such as wildebeests, lions, leopards and cheetahs. Today we embark on a game drive exploring this part of the Serengeti observing the wildlife in their natural habitat.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Today we head out on a full day of game viewing, the Serengeti is not only known for its vast predator population but also for the annual wildebeest migration. Between February and May, more than a million wildebeest search for greener pasture making their way to the Western Strip of the Serengeti. You can expect to see lion, leopard, Thompson and Grant’s gazelle, zebra, impala and buffalo in and around the open grasslands of the Serengeti.

Day 9: Serengeti – Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara, Tanzania
Rising early, we enjoy a delicious breakfast before making our way to the Ngorongoro Crater. After completing the registration process, we descend into the crater for a spectacular day of game viewing. The game drive is interrupted by a picnic lunch next to the hippo pool at the Lerai picnic site before continuing up the crater’s rim.

Distance: 400 km (including the crater) (6 – 7 hours of travelling time)
Day 10: Arusha, Tanzania
This morning we gather for one last breakfast together, reminiscing about the incredible adventure we’ve shared before making our way to Mto-wa-Mbo for some last minute souvenirs and photo opportunities. Finally we make our way to Arusha where your amazing African experience comes to an end, till we meet again in Africa.
