Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
We start the tour after breakfast at the hotel and are driven to the Tarangire National Park. An enormous park home to a variety of animals including elephant herds. The Tarangire River has stunning grasslands, recurring swamps and not forgetting the life-giving Tarangire River. Besides spotting elephants, you will see giraffes, zebras, buffalo, antelopes and over 550 bird species. The noise of the safari vehicles become a norm for the animals in the park. After your game drive, you head to the camp just outside the reserve and spend the night here.
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Tarangire National Park Game Drive
Distance: 150km (2 – 3 hours travelling time)
Day 2: Tarangire Area – Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania
After breakfast you will drive to the smaller Lake Manyara National Park which is known for it’s bird species, primate filled forests and grassy plains. A large section of the park is covered by Lake Manyara which is alkaline and therefore home to colonies of flamingos and other water birds. You may spot elephants, giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, impalas and groups of monkeys and baboons in the forest near the lake. After a lovely game drive in the afternoon you will travel to the small village of Mto wa Mbu on the outskirts of Lake Manyara National Park. You will camp at a campsite where you can relax at the pool or bar.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Lake Manyara National Park Game Drive
Distance: 80km (1 – 2 hours travelling time)
Day 3: Lake Manyara Area – Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
You will continue to the lush highlands where crops such as wheat, corn and coffee are grown and you could stop for a breath-taking view over the Ngorongoro Crater before continuing to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti means “endless plains” in the language of the Maasai and you will see the grasslands stretching to the horizon. Strange rock formations called kopjes dot the landscape where predators are often seen. Depending on the season you will witness the migration of thousands of animals for which this park is famous for. You will arrive at your campsite in the Seronera Valley in the central Serengeti in the late afternoon. After supper you will fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush.
Meals: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner
Distance: 200km (4 – 6 hours travelling time)
Day 4: Serengeti National Park,Tanzania
You will spend the entire day on a game drive in the Serengeti. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are (predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals) as they move from the hills to the plains in the short rainy season (November and December) and return up north during the longer rainy season (April to June). The yearly trek is determined by the rainfalls and the location of the herds might vary from year to year but your guide will know where to find the animals and where to see them best. Apart from wildebeests and zebras you might also spot predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs. You will spend another night at a campsite in the Seronera area.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Included Highlight: Serengeti National Park Game Drive
Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area,Tanzania
Waking up early you will join another game drive in the Serengeti National Park where you may spot animals you have not seen yet. The Serengeti is also home to the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard) and you may have an opportunity to see all of these today. After lunch you will drive in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater and as soon as you have reached the edge the view opens up before you. There are about 25,000 living in this 20km wide crater. You spend the night at a campsite directly on the crater’s edge with fantastic views.
Meals: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner
Included Highlight: Serengeti National Park Game Drive
Distance: 140km (3 – 5 hours travelling time)
Day 6: Ngorongoro – Arusha, Tanzania
At daybreak, after a lovely breakfast, you drive down into the crater. Inside the world’s largest caldera, you will see a diversity of wildlife ranging from black rhinos, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, lions and leopards to elephants and mountain reedbucks in the forests on the slopes. You may also see buffaloes, spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an intensive game drive and a picnic lunch, you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and travel back to Arusha where you will arrive in the early evening.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
included Highlight: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Distance: 190km (3 – 4 hours travelling time)
