Day 1

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

We spend today unwinding or taking part in a range of Optional Activities. Named after the renowned World Heritage site and Water Falls, the town of Victoria Falls is located on the majestic Zambezi River and is encircled by the Victoria Falls National Park. Our campsite is located in the town’s centre and is within close proximity of agents through whom you can arrange adventure activities, as well as restaurants and stores. A brief twenty minute stroll down the main road leads you to the entrance of the viewing point of the Falls, which are located between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Victoria Falls, or Mosi-oa-tunya (meaning ‘the smoke that thunders’), was given its name by David Livingstone during his expeditions, and is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. At around 1,700 metres in width and approximately 100 metres in height, this is the biggest sheet of cascading water in the world, and an unforgettable marvel on any African tour. Following our adventure activities briefing, we spend our afternoon unwinding at the camp’s swimming pool, admiring the Falls or exploring the numerous enjoyments of this town.

Optional Activities: Elephant back safaris, horseback safaris, walking with lions, a visit to the crocodile ranch, boat cruises and golf at The Elephant Hills Resort. Adrenalin junkies can bungee from the Victoria Falls Bridge, connecting Zimbabwe and Zambia or abseil down the Batoka Gorge – neither activity is for the faint hearted! All year round, flights in fixed wing, microlight and ultra-light aircraft or helicopters provide an aerial perspective over this magnificent World Heritage Site. There is nothing like white water rafting on the Zambezi with its world class Grade 5 rapids.

The road to our next destination take us through an unpopulated landscape where donkeys roam freely. An optional game drive or bush walk can be taken on arrival at the campsite.

Optional Activity: Game Drive / Bush Walk

Day 4

Nata Region to Maun, Botswana

Maun is the area from which we leave for our adventure into the Delta. This evening we prepare ourselves for this overnight optional expedition. Your guide will brief you on what to expect on your excursion to the Delta. We recommend having a smaller backpack to pack in all the supplies needed for this trip.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5

Maun to  Okavango Delta, Botswana

We awake early to depart from Maun and travel north to arrive at the mokoro (traditional dug-out canoes) poler’s station. The Delta area is dotted with various local villages where life is lived in a traditional manner. Some of the villages are extremely isolated and can only be reached by means of mokoros. At the Mokoro station we are introduced to our ‘Polers” who navigate our canoes through the narrow waterways. We locate a place in which to camp for the evening, situated in the heart of the Okavango. Upon arrival you meet the local staff who will be your host during your stay. A brief introduction the camp will show you your accommodation for your stay. Unwind in your dome tent with a cold drink or feel free to take a paddle in the Delta in a canoe. Activities such as Mokoro trails and guided walks are available for those wanting ti participate.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Optional Activity: Overnight Delta Excursion

Day 6

Okavango Delta to Maun, Botswana

Today we have one last chance for a game walk before heading back to Maun. Following a lovely ride in a mokoro, we reach Maun at midday and have the opportunity to appreciate the full magnitude of the Delta by means of an optional scenic flight from above the Okavango.  (dependent on weather conditions & availability).

Day 7

Maun to Palapye, Botswana

Awaking early, we travel a lengthy distance (roughly 450km) to the tiny town of Palapye, located midway between Francistown and the capital of Botswana, Gaborone. This well-known ‘stopover’ town for those on their way to South Africa is famous for the Morupele Colliery coal mines which provide energy to the Morupele Power Station, the main domestic source of electricity in Botswana.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8

Palapye to Blydepoort, South Africa

Today we travel into South Africa and carry onward to our campsite that overlooks the magnificent Blyde River Canyon. Named for the Blyde River that flows through it, the canyon is over 26 kilometres in length and is around 800 metres deep. It also creates the northern edge of the majestic Drakensburg Mountain Range. It is known as a ‘green canyon’ because of the unique occurrence of plant life that lines it. The primary viewpoints along the canyon include the 3 Rondavels, named so due to their traditional hut-like appearance, and the beautiful God’s Window that provides incredible vistas of the canyon and its surrounds.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Journeying through the incredible Panorama Route, we visit a range of viewpoints that include God’s Window. We pass through the tiny town of Graskop and make our way to the famous Kruger National Park and our campsite, situated at the Park’s border.
