Starts & Ends Starts: Cape Town Ends: Johannesburg
Countries South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe
Overview Beginning in Cape Town, sometimes known as "The Mother City," near the southernmost tip of Africa, this journey is the master of tours, offering breathtaking scenery and well-known landmarks. As we move up the west coast, we pass through some of the largest sand dunes on the earth, into Namibia's expansive panoramas, and up to the Okavango Delta, which is a true wilderness. We proceed to the remote Makgadikgadi salt pans and then head north through Kasane to the magnificent Victoria Falls. As we descend, we stop in Hwange, home to sizable herds of elephants, then follow the rhino in Matobo. The voyage comes to a close in Johannesburg, the Gold City, when you finally pass back into Botswana. We go a considerable distance on some isolated and unpaved roads, but the natural wonders we come across more than make up for any hardship for those who genuinely desire adventure.

  • Tour Length 24 days
    Group Size Max 17
Starts & Ends Starts: Cape Town Ends: Johannesburg
Countries South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe
Overview Leaving the vibrant city of Cape Town we travel to the arid desert of Namibia and the beautiful wildlife sanctuaries of Botswana and Zimbabwe. We will canoe through the Orange River, hike up towering sand dunes, game drive through some of Africa’s most famous Parks and witness the cascades of the incredible Victoria Falls. We cover plenty of distance on isolated and rugged paths, and travellers should be prepared for this. However, the natural wonders we come across during this tour makes it all worth it. The tour has a mixture of 6 nights lodge, 2 nights cabins, and 15 nights camping. The tour requires participation from all group members. This entails assisting with the food preparation, washing of dishes, keeping the truck clean and the setting up the camp. Please keep in mind that flexibility and an open mind is needed on the trip.  The guide is registered with the Field Guide Association of Southern Africa (FGASA). The tour has been designed to include all highlights in the price and thus avoid any hidden surprises. The camping tour provides all equipment, including camp stretcher beds, tents, camp chairs. Travellers can bring supplementary mattress if desired. Travellers are required to bring sleeping bags, towels and travel pillows.

Cape Town is a foodie hub with world-class chefs powering a food revolution. Restaurants in the city offer every cuisine imaginable from traditional African dishes to fusion and fabulous seafood.

For a uniquely South African experience, head out to Mzoli’s Place in Gugulethu. Here the tradition of braai culture (or barbeque) is held proudly as you are given the chance to choose your cut of meat and it is then cooked to your liking on open fires and served along with side dishes true to South African style such as pap or coleslaw. You can grab a beer (quart) next door from the shebeen to wash it all down with. Enjoy your meal while getting to know the friendly locals for a true African experience.

A good way to see the sights in Cape Town is to take the open top bus tour. Ideal for a sunny, wind-free days as the top level is open which lends itself to great photo opportunities as you explore the inner city, coastal or winelands routes. And you won’t have to walk very far to find one! Awash with pubs, clubs, restaurants and quaint shops. This street in the center of the city has an eclectic energy day and night and is worth the wander through it’s side streets and alleys.
