12 Day Arusha to Stone Town

Day 1: Arusha, Tanzania

Arrive at a time that best suits you, there are no activities scheduled for the day. Only a welcome meeting in the evening.

Day 2: Arusha – Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania

Take a guided cultural stroll around the Mto wa Mbu community and have a traditional meal with a local family. Drive a wildlife safari in Lake Manyara National Park. Visit Mto wa Mbu community and participate in a cultural walk to gain insight into the way of life in the village. Enjoy a tasty home-cooked traditional lunch and get to know the women who lead the village excursions.

Take in the afternoon’s animal viewing along the main road that meanders through the cool, lush forests of Lake Manyara National Park, which are blanketed in bromeliads and overgrown with ficus trees. The western wall of the Rift Valley escarpment makes for an absolutely breathtaking background in this area. Look at the amazing birdlife, lions that climb trees, elephants, giraffes, and hippos.

Day 3: Mto wa Mbu – Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Take a wildlife safari drive while traveling to the Serengeti’s center region. We make out way to Serengeti National Park by driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. While traveling across this savanna with acacia accents, stop along the way to take in the breathtaking size of the area and see the variety of animals and birds.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Get up early for a full-day Serengeti wildlife safari trip. Take in the expansiveness of the Serengeti plains while having a picnic lunch in the bush and continuing your hunt for the “big five”.

Please Note: Those who have pre-booked a Serengeti Balloon Safari will fly in the morning. Despite missing the morning wildlife safari drive, you will have spectacular views from above. Please contact your guide or travel agent if you have not yet pre-booked and would like to.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro, Tanzania

After leaving the Serengeti, go on a morning wildlife safari drive and continue seeing animals in the Ngorongoro Crater. From your campsite on the crater rim, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the crater.

Over 20,000 to 25,000 large mammals live on the Crater bottom thanks to its perennial water and lush grazing.

Because of our camp’s high altitude, temperatures can drop at night. For the evening and following morning, we recommend bringing extra layers.

Day 6: Ngorongoro – Arusha, Tanzania

See the Clean Cookstove Project and a real Maasai community before spending the night back in Arusha. See how the Clean Cookstove Project is helping people by visiting a Maasai village in the Monduli District. 95% of people in Tanzania cook with coal and wood. Every day, women and girls must walk for hours in order to gather wood, which leaves them open to attack and prevents them from using that time for education. Open-fire stove indoor smoke can lead to blindness, burns, bronchitis, emphysema, and cancer. Visit bomas, or traditional dwellings, and get a guided tour of these villages to meet the women who have received stove engineering training. You can also watch by assisting the Stove Team in installing a stove in a home.

Day 7: Arusha, Tanzania

A day to yourself to explore Arusha or unwind at the lodge.

Day 8: Arusha – Stone Town, Tanzania

Take a plane to the stunning island of Zanzibar, then make your way to the hotel. Take a guided introductory walk in Stone Town’s historic district with your chief executive officer, and then choose to go on an extended walking tour or explore on your own.

After your transfer, take a quick yet breathtaking flight to this island paradise. Make sure you get to Stone Town in time for the orientation tour and lunch. You will visit the Old Slave Market, House of Wonders, and Palace Museum if you decide to take a lengthier tour of Stone Town; admission to these attractions is optional and must be paid for on-site.

Day 10 – 11: Beach day in Zanzibar, Tanzania

Day 12: Stone Town, Tanzania

Group transfer from the beach in the morning. When you arrive in the late morning, your journey comes to an end and you will leave Stone Town.

You should schedule your subsequent travel no earlier than 2:30 pm.
