You could also spend some time here volunteering a day for a local charity project, adventuring on a day trip to the Victoria Falls township in Zimbabwe, or simply unwinding on the gorgeous campsite deck while watching the water of the Zambezi River flow swiftly past on its way through to Victoria Falls. The Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park surrounds our campsite, so for those adventurers wanting more game drives, these are available right on your doorstep. Our day’s journey sees us entering South Africa and crossing the Limpopo River. Being the second biggest river in South Africa, the Limpopo River acts as a crucial water source for this dry and barren land, as well as a natural border between South Africa and it’s neighboring countries (Botswana and Zimbabwe) before flowing through Mozambique and finally out into the Indian Ocean. We continue to Tshipise, situated in the northern section of the Limpopo province. Camp this evening will be at the foot of one of Limpopo’s rolling koppies set adjacent the Honnet Nature Reserve. There are hot springs in the area which are surrounded by dense woodland comprising of Mopani, Red Bushwillow, Jakkalsbessie trees – and the third largest Baobab tree in South Africa.

Day 5 - 6

Tshipise – Hazyview – Kruger National Park, South Africa

From Tshipise, we make our way across to the leading game reserve of southern Africa, the ‘Kruger’. The fences that previously separated Kruger National Park from its neighbouring private game reserves were removed in order to create an enormous ‘Greater Kruger’ with an area of over 24,000 square kms. Here, we overnight for two evenings in the hopes of getting a comprehensive look at the diverse wildlife that populates Africa during a full day’s game drive through the National Park. Rising early we enjoy an open 4×4 full day game drive through the park. This includes lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, perhaps leopard, and around 500 species of birdlife. The landscape is mostly bush and plains, but with perfectly decent road networks, it allows us relatively easy access to most parts of the reserve. Our final night of safari is spent celebrating our time together and sharing our favourite stories and encounters whilst being entertained with song and dance by the local Shangaan tribesmen, making it a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
