This small group  accommodated Zimbabwe and Botswana Safari , explores the incredible culture and natural splendour of both countries en route. Admire the Zimbabwe Ruins and the majestic Victoria Falls. Head into the Okavango Delta by means of a mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) and observe giant herds of elephant in the Chobe National Park by boat. This expedition covers everything from wildlife to history and culture. The accommodation is graded at 3-4 stars and are chosen not only for the service and comfort level but for the wonderful locations and wildlife viewing opportunities. All linen and bedding is provided. Most meals are provided by the lodge. Should you be a single traveller you will be roomed up with another same gender traveller unless you prefer a single supplement (limited to 2 travellers).

Itinerary

Day 1: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

You will be greeted by the thunderous applause of the mighty Zambezi River. Victoria Falls brings many travellers to view the spectacular beauty of one of the Natural Wonders of the World. You will check into the lodge and spend the day exploring the Falls and the tropical rain forest on foot in the afternoon. Dinner tonight will be at your own expense at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2 – 3: Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park is the largest Park in Zimbabwe and offers a plethora of wildlife, specifically big game and elephants. It is about one hour south from Victoria Falls in the northwest corner. You will travel through the wide open plains of the Kalahari to the forested woodland in east Hwange. Your accommodation will be in Miombo Lodge on the private concession to the east of the Park. There will be plenty of time to explore the area on safaris in open 4×4 vehicles.

Overnight: Miombo Lodge – for 2 nights at Hwange National Park, we stay in deluxe tented
chalets with en-suite facilities, swimming pool and central boma area. WiFi not available

Day 4 – 5: Matobos National Park, Zimbabwe

Matobos National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is 44 500 hectares in size. There is a large population of Black and White Rhino that are protected here. The area is dotted with unusual balancing domes of rock which have been formed from millions of years of erosion. Our day will be spent walking through the Park where you will get to see the rhino and also discover the ancient Bushmen paintings. A visit to Cecil John Rhode’s grave will give you some insight into this mining magnate and businessman.

Day 6: Nata, Botswana

Getting its name from a local Nhanzwa chief, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s biggest Park, spreading over 14,650 square kilometres and is situated in the northwest corner of the country. It is famous for its massive concentrations of elephant. Our camp is located in the game management area that surrounds the park, and we spend time exploring the Park with our local guide on a full day game drive in our open 4X4.

Day 7: Maun, Botswana

Maun is in the north of Botswana and is the starting point for the vast inland Okavango Delta. In the rainy season (November-March) the delta becomes flooded which attracts lots of wildlife. Due to these heavy rains it is often not recommended you visit the Delta at this time and it is better to visit from May to November. We will take a trip into the Moremi Game Reserve where you can watch the prolific birdlife, relax by the pool or take an optional scenic flight over the Delta.

Day 8- 10: Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

Rivers, savannah, lagoons and woodland make up the rich wilderness of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is where the waters of the Okavango flood into the thirsty plains of the Kalahari and where you will find animals flocking to the area. Look out for leopard, lion, wild dog, elephant, giraffe and a variety of antelope quenching their thirst. Game drives in open 4x4WDs will give you an optimum view of this area and the surrounding concession along the Khwai River. You will stay in a bush lodge where a boma overlooks the pan while you enjoy dinner and watch the activity of the wildlife. Day 10 will see our last game drive before we head back to the lodge in Maun.

Overnight: 2 nights Hyena Pan Bushlodge – exclusive private tented bush lodge, bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Twin share permanent tented lodge with en suite facilities.

Day 11: Okavango Delta – Shakawe, Botswana

Today is an exciting day where we head north to Shakawe and board a house boat for a voyage on the Okavango Pan Handle. We will drift past the reed-lined shore in the calm waters before we can relax and enjoy the tranquil view.

Day 12: Caprivi, Namibia

We leave Botswana today and enter Namibia and the Mahango Games Reserve where we will drive through the reserve before reaching our lodge on the Kavango River.

Day 13-14: Chobe National Park, Botswana

The Caprivi Strip is a protrusion of Namibia which separates Botswana to the south and Angola in the north. The area is rich in wildlife particularly elephants who come here to quench their thirst. You can also look out for crocodile and hippo during an afternoon game cruise. Your accommodation is at the edge of the Chobe River in a Safari Lodge.
