Described by Churchill as the ‘Pearl of Africa’, Uganda is home to the famous mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park and Virunga Mountains as well as the scenic Murchison Falls.
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the most popular National Park to trek to see the mountain gorillas. It has a gorilla population of approximately 340 which make up almost half of all mountain gorillas in the world. Other National Parks include Mgahinga National Park and Virunga National Park, both in Uganda. Gorilla trekking is definitely an experience of a lifetime.
Another highlight on a Uganda Gorilla Safari is the Entebbe and Ngamba Chimp Island which is the chimpanzee island sanctuary created to care for orphaned chimpanzees in a safe, protected natural environment of rain forest. The eco-friendly island has compost ablutions, rainwater collection, waste management and solar powered electricity for hot water.
