Itinerary

Day 1-2: Windhoek – Namib Desert, Namibia

We will all meet together at 8:00am for a departure briefing. Our journey starts as we travel through the rolling hills south of Windhoek down into the escarpment to the wide open desert plains of the Namib. Here you have the opportunity to indulge in tasting one of the world’s best apple tart (own expense). We will have the afternoon to enjoy the vast open spaces of the desert once we have settled into our lodge.

The following day our time will be spent exploring the Naukluft National Park known as the world’s oldest desert and the fourth largest park in the world. Clay pans have been formed by the occasional flooding of the Tsauchab River. Across the plains you will see Camel Thorn Trees and the lifeless trees in Deadvlei that create a stark contrast against the surrounding tall orange sand dunes.

Etosha National Park is also known as ‘The Great White Place’ due to the fact that there is a large dried pan in the middle of the park that dried up thousands of years ago. Natural Springs and waterholes provide an ongoing water supply to the wildlife in this arid area. The great white salt pans with elephants silhouetted as a backdrop make for striking photographs. We will camp at the edge of a floodlit waterhole which will give you fantastic opportunities to see the active nocturnal life of the animals.
