Skeleton Coast to Khorixas, Namibia

From the coast, we proceed towards the Khorixas area by way of the road today. As part of our exploration of the Kunene Region, we will visit the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings and the Petrified Forest. Khoi San have inhabited this area for more than 6000 years. Shamanic rituals were performed at the site by these inhabitants. This process resulted in the creation of 2500 rock paintings. A large concentration of rock petroglyphs can be found at this site, which is one of the largest in Africa. On the way, we also visit the Petrified Forest, a national monument consisting of fossilized tree trunks from prehistoric times. This relic was created by the washing of large tree trunks into alluvial sands during prehistoric times.
