Nairobi – Lake Baringo
We depart from Nairobi and travel north, descending down the Great Rift Valley – a massive cleft in the earth that stretches from Egypt to Madagascar. A fulcrum for plate tectonic activity, the Valley is peppered with soda water lakes and the occasional freshwater lake. Lake Baringo is one of two freshwater lakes and houses crocodile and hippo, as well as more than 400 bird species. In the afternoon we have time to hire a boat out for a lake cruise in order to observe some of the beautiful wildlife of our surroundings. Otherwise, feel free to embark on a guided nature walk around the shores of the lake.
