Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

We head off on a game drive that takes us out of the Serengeti’s vast plains. Once we have lunched, we ascend the Crater’s rim after which we make a stop at Olduvai Gorge which is said to be one of the earliest sites of palaeontology and the understanding of man’s evolution.
That evening we lodge close to the rim of the crater where you can experience the sights and sounds of the wild under the starry sky. The Ngorongoro is a caldera where the earth has imploded on itself from volcanic activity, so it is a very large hole (32 square kilometres). The crater floor is teeming with wildlife at 600 metres below ground.
