Sossusvlei, Namibia

Today we head south towards Sesriem which will take us about 6 hours. Walvis Bay is known for thousands of migratory birds, flamingos being one of them, although it depends on the season. Then we pass through moon valley in a granite rocky valley. We also pass through the Tropic of Capricorn and will stop in Solitaire before reaching our lodge. This is an unusual place with abandoned trucks, cars, petrol pumps and cacti. This is the only place between Walvis Bay and Sossusvlei that has a post office, general dealer and bakery. Be sure to taste the apple pie which is legendary.
