Making Friends While Flying

Are you the type who pops your little white earphones into your ears as soon as you step out of the airport and board a flight? Or are you the type who likes to strike up a conversation with someone sitting next to you?

Skyscanner conducted a survey among international travellers to see how common it is for fellow flyers to forge relationships. The poll was completed by 700 flyers, and revealed that 39% of travellers have indeed developed a friendship with someone they met on a flight, and 6% even admitted to striking up something of a romantic liaison. The majority of these were said to be short-lived, while 5% spent time on holiday together as a direct result of meeting on their flight.

Social media also appears to be prolonging these longer-term relationships, with 3% staying in touch on social networks like Facebook and Twitter with someone they met on a flight. So why not try and unplug and detach yourself from your own world and introduce yourself to someone next to you. Who knows where it can lead to ;)
