Etosha to Khorixas, Namibia

We depart Etosha National Park this morning.  We will leave the park after a final morning of exploration and drive to Khorixas in the truck. You’ll see fossilized prehistoric tree trunks at the Petrified Forest, a national monument along the way. Formerly, these remnants were massive trees which were carried down a river and eventually trapped in alluvial sands, which gave them the appearance of being trapped in time. Lastly, we will visit the ancient rock engravings at Twyfelfontein in the Kunene Region, accompanied by a local guide. As one of the highest concentrations of rock petroglyphs in Africa, this area was inhabited by the Khoi San for 6000 years. 2500 rock paintings were created at this site as a result of shamanistic rituals conducted by the ancient inhabitants. In Khorixas, we will conclude the day after a full day of exploration.
