Why You'll Love this Tour

Leaving the vibrant city of Cape Town we travel to the arid desert of Namibia and the beautiful wildlife sanctuaries of Botswana and Zimbabwe. We will canoe through the Orange River, hike up towering sand dunes, game drive through some of Africa’s most famous Parks and witness the cascades of the incredible Victoria Falls. We cover plenty of distance on isolated and rugged paths, and travellers should be prepared for this. However, the natural wonders we come across during this tour makes it all worth it. The tour has a mixture of 6 nights lodge, 2 nights cabins, and 15 nights camping. The tour requires participation from all group members. This entails assisting with the food preparation, washing of dishes, keeping the truck clean and the setting up the camp. Please keep in mind that flexibility and an open mind is needed on the trip.  The guide is registered with the Field Guide Association of Southern Africa (FGASA). The tour has been designed to include all highlights in the price and thus avoid any hidden surprises. The camping tour provides all equipment, including camp stretcher beds, tents, camp chairs. Travellers can bring supplementary mattress if desired. Travellers are required to bring sleeping bags, towels and travel pillows.

Tour Reviews

Review by Marc V:

We had a fantastic trip! We really enjoyed every bit of the trip and I’d like to think that everybody else on the tour felt the same way. We are certainly not put off by going back to Africa (I’m back in Mali right now), and have already considered other trips. Thanks again, Huntley, for all your excellent support and time.

When I booked the trip I didn’t really expect to come to the journey of my life (until now). The whole experience was the most amazing and awesome adventure I ever did so far. Tony showed us his Africa with more than just passion. In these 24 days we visited South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe which is amazing. But the whole group made it just better. Our camp is located on our private Nature Reserve situated within the Namibrand Nature Reserve and is home to a variety of desert-adapted animals and plant life. The camp is incredibly constructed against a rock outcrop between the giant mountains and red dune-fields

The following morning our guide leads us on a walk to gain an understanding of the desert’s unique geology and ecology. It is important to relax at the camp during the day, to enjoy the plunge pool and a cold drink, but those who are energetic can explore the surrounding rock formations, watch birds, or sit on a rock alone, enraptured by the changing colors of the vast landscape as they watch the sun rise and set. Our afternoon exploration takes us on an open vehicle desert drive to search for gemsbok and bat-eared foxes, followed by a traditional sundowner drink. As the sun sets, we slowly drive back to the camp, hoping to see some of the nocturnal animals that are commonly found in the area, such as porcupines, aardvarks, and brown hyenas.
